A psychologist who reads your file before they meet you.
For adults, teens, and children. In our Strathfield South clinic or by telehealth, anywhere in Australia. Medicare, private health, NDIS, DVA, WorkCover, self-funded — we’ll help you work out what applies.
You don’t need a diagnosis to come. You don’t need a GP referral. Worried is reason enough.
Something’s been off for a while.
Sleep, mood, motivation, the sense of just carrying too much. You’ve been meaning to see someone. This is that.
A specific thing is going on.
Grief. A relationship ending. A job change. Something in your body that’s turning into something in your head, or vice versa.
Your child is struggling.
School has raised something. Or you’ve noticed a change. Or you’d just like a professional to have a look and tell you honestly what they see.
How our psychologists work
Our psychologists sit with you the way a capable friend would — if that friend also happened to have spent a decade training in what to listen for. Sessions are 50 minutes for adults, 45 for children. First sessions run a bit longer.
We work with cognitive behavioural approaches, acceptance and commitment therapy, schema-informed work, and other evidence-based practices — matched to what you bring to the room, not what’s currently fashionable. If we’re going to use a specific approach with you, we’ll explain what it is and why we think it fits.
If a psychologist thinks you’d also benefit from occupational therapy, physiotherapy, or speech input — say, for sleep and pain, or for a child’s sensory needs — they’ll ask you before they mention it internally. Nothing about you moves inside our team without your say-so.
Your first session
Before you come in.
You’ll fill out a short form. Your psychologist reads it before they meet you.
The session itself.
You talk. They listen more than you’d expect. They ask questions that clarify, not questions that judge. Toward the end, they say plainly what they think would help.
After.
You’ll leave with a sense of whether this is a good fit, what a reasonable next few sessions look like, and what you’d do if you decide it’s not for you. No pressure to rebook on the spot.
Psychology funding at a glance
With a GP referral, Medicare rebates part of your session fee for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. [VERIFY] current session cap.
Some funds cover psychology. Coverage varies — HICAPS on the day.
No referral needed. Fee stated up front.
Self, plan, or agency-managed ([VERIFY] per registration). Reports written for plan reviews at no extra charge to you.

Psychology questions
No. You can book directly. A GP referral (Mental Health Care Plan) changes what Medicare covers, but it isn’t required to see us.
Honestly — it depends. After your first session, your psychologist will tell you plainly what they think a reasonable next few sessions look like. You’ll decide together.
Psychologists and clinical psychologists are both registered with AHPRA and can work with the full range of mental-health concerns. Clinical psychologists have completed a higher clinical qualification. Counsellors are registered separately (through PACFA or ACA), often with a different training pathway. Our team includes registered psychologists — registration numbers on each bio.
Yes. Let us know when you book. Some sessions work better one-on-one; your psychologist will tell you honestly what they think.
If you’re in immediate danger, please call Lifeline on 13 11 14 or 000. We’re not an emergency service. But if you’d like a psychologist you can come back to, once things settle — that’s exactly what we’re here for.
